Artís Oval Eight Brush, €58. No press samples featured.
With the excitement of uploading my first weekly beauty vlog, I forgot to hit publish on this post. So, for followers who aren’t into the whole video thing, here we are, the Artís Oval Eight Brush review.
It’s the second largest in the range, and a good size for applying liquid or powder base products. I’ve been using it for both – yes, even powder, which freaks me out LOTS but not enough to go back to traditional brushes just yet. Over the last month, I’ve got on with it so well that I’ve started to lust after the rest of the range, having initially dismissed it as too weird.
But, looking back, I wrote the Artís Oval Eight Brush off as weird too. It looks like a spoon wearing a fur cape, and I assumed there was an emperor’s new clothes aspect to its hype. That assumption fell apart in seconds, when I picked up the display model and ran it over the back of my hand. Sold, to the girl who is stroking herself wildly with the tester!
After a billion washes (I am weird about my base brushes), it still feels like the pad of a kitten’s paw. It’s nice, particularly because it’s animal-free. AND, there hasn’t been any shedding. Any. I’ve been combing for stray strands but nope, not one. There’s no ferrule, but whatever adhesive is at the base of the bristles has them locked down.
The shape comes into play when you’re trying to reach the sides of your nose or around your eyes. It’s flat, but its curved edges slip easily into smaller areas. Also, there’s bend in the neck, so smoothing is around feels fluid – it glides, you never have to pat or bounce it.
All in all, super easy. I spend under thirty seconds applying foundation now, and the results are invariably good – not a streak or blotch left in its path. That was from the first use too. I fully expected to have to adapt to it, but it feels very natural.
So, if you want to cop a feel of the Artís Oval Eight Brush, I think Space NK on Grafton Street is Ireland’s only stockist. Let me know if you see it elsewhere, and I’ll update the post.
