Along with the remainders of my nephews’ Easter eggs, I’m eating my words. I didn’t expect greatness from Barry M Flawless Matte Finish Foundation, €9.19, because the brand always struck me as one that is best for fashion-led colourways, not staple bases.
For nine quid plus cents, I gave it a whirl. In return, it gave me dat face – concealed blemishes, brightened under eyes and general uniformity. The name suggests a flat finish, but this looks natural and fresh on me. As far as the flawless tag goes, it’s pretty accurate.
Coverage isn’t as full-on as something like Studio Fix Fluid, but the loss of masking is regained through its thinner consistency, which makes tactical application (building up product where you need it most and buffing over better areas) easier. The shade is neutral, not leaning yellow or pink. It’s one of the paler from the selection of ivory foundations that I tried – so most ghost-faced folk should get on very well with it. This has all the elements of a perfect everyday foundation, and I think it’ll bode well with most skin types – provided you prep your skin accordingly. A total winner.
