Well. This is a difficult intro to write, in light of a self-imposed ban on Kylie Jenner discussion. Because of aforementioned teen, nude lips are the hip thing. I think they’re even pushing brows to the side.
I’ve been a fan since I realised that nude didn’t have to mean totally blanked out and beige, so am sharing the best ones that I’ve collected.
Happy Nude Year
Happy Nude Year, €12.49, is the newest addition to the Bourjous Rouge Edition Velvet range that I reviewed back in spring.
The Velvets are cream lipsticks, brushed on with a handy doe-foot applicator, that set to a matte finish. They’re champion sticker-arounders, and very resistant to transfer.
The first bunch were all brights, but Happy Nude Year is a muted rose. If you like your nudes pale ‘n’ peachy, as they traditionally are, this might not be your poison. However, I think this brighter option is too good at perking up pale complexions to leave out.
Persian Pink
MeMeMe Long Wear Lip Cream (or, y’know, lipstick) in Persian Pink, €10.50, is so comfortable. Its texture, because of the shea butter and vitamin e base, feels more like a thick balm than a lipstick.
The long wear tag strikes me as odd, and not just because I think its hydrating properties should have taken centre stage in the branding. In terms of lasting, it’s no better or worse than other lipsticks. Sure, it doesn’t fade without a little coaxing, but you won’t munch through a meal unscathed. Another note on the naming situation – Persian Pink isn’t pink. It’s peach.
If, especially as it’s almost winter, you’re looking for colour that won’t dry out your lips, this is one to check out. Stockists are listed here!
Make Your Move
I still haven’t posted my full review of the new Rimmel Provocalips range, because they’re tough to get to grips with. Make Your Move is one of two nudes in the Provocalips range, and is on the darker, richer end of the spectrum.
The froot-scented (spelling intentional) product comes in a double-sided tube. One side contains colour, and the other is a clear setting gloss. Once both of these are applied, it sets. Like, BAM, totally locked in. You’ve got to scrub with gusto to remove it. It’s incredible.
The tough part is applying it evenly, because you’ve got to very quick about it. If you can master that, you’re flying.
They’re €8.49 a pop, or totally free if you win the giveaway that Irish blog, Viva Adonis, is running.
Crystal Baby
I push Estee Lauder Pure Colour in Crystal Baby, €26.00, like I’ve got shares in the company. It’s an oldie, especially in light of the new and wonderful Pure Colour Envy range, but it works.
Its thin consistency and semi-sheer, lightly glossy finish make for total ease of wear. You scribble it on and go.
Little flecks of glitter make it look glossy, without the gloopy feel. Excellent stuff altogether.
Kinda Sexy
Back in my glory days, MAC Kinda Sexy, €18.50, was my office lipstick. Its warm tone perks up an early-start complexion, and the matte texture clings on from morning coffee to lunch.
I don’t find it any more drying than you’d expect a matte lipstick to be, but, around the internet, it gets a lot of flack for being moisture-sucking. Proper balm application (that’s a balm, not vaseline!) should sort that right out, if it is something you’ve got trouble with.

Nude suits you so much! Very envious on your amazing complexion x
Lorraine Haigney
Ah, it’s much to do with artificial light and a flash! It’s grand at the minute but not as totally clear as it looks. I feel like I should add a disclaimer :L
Emma
Great picks. They all look really wearable. I’m a big fan of MAC Patisserie.

I’d forgotten all about that one, it’s been on my list for years!
Gracey O'Connell
Kinda Sexy is my new faaaavourite! Hear Sharon Farrell talking about it so much and I had a Back 2 MAC so I thought why not and I’m absolutely obsessed with it. I’m back on the nude lip train… thankfully not because of aforementioned “Whirl/Spice all day every day” teen 😉 x
Nina
Mac kinda sexy looks lovely, I think I want them all 🙂 x
