Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick Pastel Pink, €44. No press samples featured. Disclosure policy here.
This isn’t a blush. I know, it looks like one, and I accidentally used it as one before I was clued in, but it’s not. The new Bobbi Brown Brightening Bricks are complexion powders, intended for use all over the face.
I was given one as a gift, in the shade Pastel Pink. Its colourway, nudes and cool pinks, is the lightest one in the Brightening Brick range.
Pigment is sheer. Even on my pale skin, it doesn’t show up as bright pink. What does show up is a strong, pretty glow. It’s the kind of thing I hoped the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Ethereal Light would impart.
Along with the glow, there are large flecks of silver glitter. I expected ’em, after reading this Bobbi Brown Hot Nudes collection review. They are big. Below, there’s a super up-close shot where you can see ’em in all their mahoosive glory. I get less of a smattering when I use a very fluffy brush, and less is definitely more here, especially if you’re a fan of subtlety.

On my cheeks, I skip blusher and just pile this on. As you can see in the picture at the top of this post, the effect is more brightening than bold. I’m naturally kinda ruddy, so it’s nice to not have to be really careful and light handed.
I think this one is geared towards us extra pale peeps, but there are loads in the collection that look universally flattering. You can bet your bottom dollar that I’m hankering after the Coral and Cranberry shades I saw in Strawberry Blonde’s Brightening Bricks 2015 post. Look at her swatches, but only if you’ve got the cash to blow or stacks of willpower. They are beaut!
The heavy glitter might divide opinion, but I think it’s worth a look if you need some extra help with radiance. The whole collection recently launched, so should be at whatever Bobbi Brown counter is nearest to you now.

Love the look of this – a beauty Battenberg if you will! Looks lovely and glowy on your cheeks X

Ha, I didn’t see the resemblance until now!

Hey Lorraine, I actually really like how it looks on you! I received Pastel Peach as a sample. I already took the product photos and swatched it, but so far haven’t mustered enough interest/courage to actually give it a go. First of all, Pastel Peach probably works better for those who are paler than NC 25/30. Second of all, I find the texture too powdery and the sparkle a little too in-your-face. I’ll let you know what I think after giving it a proper go, but I won’t get my hopes up.

It might work as a targeted highlighter on you, rather than an all-over illuminator. You know, if you were desperate to make it work. I agree on the sparkle count!

You know what? I would have thought it was a blusher too. LOL! Will need to give it a swatch when I come across a Bobbi Brown store, I’m not a huge fan of anything with shimmer/glitter so will have to check it first.

Haha, I’m not alone! I hope you like it, but from what you say I don’t think it’ll be your cup of tea.

This one looks lovely on you, but I will stay away from it. Anything containing chunky glitter has me running in the opposite direction.

Haha, I understand! It’s not for everyone. I’ve been using it since and really enjoy it 🙂
