Colour me excited! And blue! And pink! I’ve wanted to try coloured hair chalk for ages now (thanks, tumblr) but have been put off by prices. The Body Shop is launching two shades this February at €11.95 a pop.
Body Shop Hair Chalk is vibrant when applied, but they fade towards the end of the day – I’m thinking that these are best kept for nights out, so longevity isn’t a feature I expected or wanted. Setting the style with hairspray helps, and stops it from transferring onto clothes, but don’t expect high-impact colour after supper.
Application is straightforward. Grab a strand of hair from wherever and press the pot against it, pulling downwards to coat the length. I hit a few kinks, literally, and found that I had to straighten curls out to get an even block of colour. Another note to curly-haired folk – faffing around too much creates frizz. Just dab it on and leave it, it’ll be grand.
The look is a bit grungy, but that’s what the trend calls for. It makes me feel like Kate Winslet – granted, it’s Eternal Sunshine Kate Winslet, but I’ll take what I can get in terms of feeling like Kate Winslet – and is a welcome change from crap medium brown hair.
It washes out in one go and didn’t dry my already AWFUL ends out, plus it didn’t stain my hands.
Overall, a very affordable foot in the door to spring trends. Will you be giving it a whirl?
P.S. I bought my own URL! Ahhhhh!
