Bourjois Aqua Blush, €6.90. Press samples featured. Disclosure policy here.
In keeping with its summer collection theme, Bourjois Aqua Blushes are really subtle, lightweight gel formulas. There are four in the range, and I’ve got two to review and swatch; Pink Twice and Inge-Nude.
Left – Inge-Nude Right – Pink Twice
Swatched on Cheeks – Pink Twice
Now, swatching. This wasn’t as easy as my usual swipe and shoot routine. The blushes are very sheer and fluid. In life, that makes for a delicate wash of colour. In pictures? It’s invisible. I’ve packed it on to give some idea of shade, but remember that neither blush is that opaque when blended!
That Aqua Blush thin texture is very comfortable, and glides on with ease over most of my bases. Matte foundations are the only exception – the two do not bode. In this case, like goes with like. You’ll get on best if you match this with a dewy, creamy or silky base.
That means that it’s not a match for the foundation that launched alongside it, Nude Sensation. As the rest of the foundations in the Bourjois range are miles from matte, I imagine it’s intended to complement them, not the matte Nude Sensation oddity.
Longevity isn’t as solid as I get with my powder or traditional cream blushes. It goes from looking like a fresh flush to barely detectable by dinner time. If that’s a deal breaker for you, keep in mind that this stuff is super light. You’ll be able to apply a fresh layer in a few seconds, no caking at all.
Even with their disappearing act, I’m really liking the Aqua Blushes. The effect about as natural a rosy glow as you can get without breaking a sweat.

Interesting. These don’t look like I expected them to be. I thought they might be a dupe for the Daniel Sandler liquid blushes but these look a lot more gel-like. But I’m sure I’ll pick up a shade.

I really like cream blushes for summer and these sound really nice. We can’t really get Bourjois here in the US but I’ll probably check them out when I go to Europe. Currently doing a list of what to get when I’m there 🙂

Those cheekbones!! Think I’ll be giving these a miss not a fan of liquid blushes can never seem to get them to work!

I think the texture of this one is really easy to work with! Not as uncontrollable as pure liquids, but not as thick and hard to blend as creams!

I have been getting into cream blushes lately, so I need to try different brands.

So beautiful! I love liquid blushes for their ease of use, and they usually give that very natural fresh flush of color.
Blush in general is really hard to photograph, isn’t it?

I have ended up in tears because of it, honestly! It’ll look visible in my view finder and then disappear when I transfer the pictures to my computer.

I didn’t realise these were such good value for money, I swatched the peachy one today in Boots and it has faded to a gorgeous light subtle colour. I might get one! Wish it would give me dem cheekbones *sniff*
