Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks Review + Swatches

Lorraine_Haigney 3rd April 2014

A child of the Bebo generation and teen of the free-text revolution, there’s no end to the amount of exclamation marks I’ll use when I’m feeling enthused. As a taster of how Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks, €12.49, have impressed me, I’ll let you know that I had to backspace almost a dozen from this review.

Some were even in clusters.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks

As lovely as Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks, are, we got off on the wrong foot. I thought I was going to have to write ’em off. They smell funny – fierce funny. It’s a little bit metallic, like an iron supplement, and not like any product I’d used before.

Sucking it up and getting on with application, they were back in the game! The colour is bold and totally opaque, setting into a fully matte finish.

The feel totally contrasts to other heavy mattes. It’s thin, not at all sticky and only as drying as a regular lipstick – no balm top ups required.

Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lip Review SwatchesIn terms of wear-time, I think Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks have a longer lifespan than most insects. They adhere to lips without feeling tight, lasting through meals, drinks and man mauling.

The press pack pitches them resistant to transfer, which they kind of are. Initially, you’ll have rings around rims of cups, but that stops once the cream has settled.

Above is Frambourjoise, a rosy red, and the face of a woman who hadn’t slept properly in two days. Soz.

Bourjois Rouge Edit Velvet Lip Hot Pepper Review

Second is Hot Pepper, a warm red. I’ve been wearing it with heaps of Peach Pop – 10/10 would recommend this combination for something you can just throw on with mascara and go.

Pink Pong Bourjois Review Swatches

Finally, Pink Pong – a bold fuchsia.

Putting the weird scent aside, Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks are incredible quality at a great price. They launch mid-April, along with five other shades (corals!!!) and polishes to match.
