Celebrity Creep – What Red Lipstick Does Taylor Swift Wear?

Lorraine_Haigney 7th July 2015

Today’s post is the first on a theme, tracking down the beauty products that, to put it colloquially, have the slebs looking massive.

Taylor Swift’s lipstick is the one that launched this series, because there’s only so many times you can look at a woman as well put together and not try to single-white-female her style. On her zillionth outing with matte red lips, I cracked and went on the deepest creep I’ve ever crept.

WHAT RED LIPSTICK DOES TAYLOR SWIFT WEAR

Taylor Swift’s Red Lipstick

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl, €26, is the one she’s been pictured applying and the one she’s mentioned the most frequently. It’s matte, and looks even more so alongside her dewy base. I think the contrast is what makes it look so good. It takes what could be very old-hat and makes it fresh, and that’s the ticket. Y’know, as well as her face being aesthetically perfect. I’ll be over here, swallowing resentment. Ahem.

It’s been reviewed and swatched over on Viva Adonis by Dee, who is a truly a red lip expert.

Christina Hendricks’ Red Lipstick

In real life, Christina Hendricks is a fan of Ruby Woo, and, as a result, welcome in my girlo squad any time. However, I was looking for the names of the reds she wears when she’s Joan Holloway, and what I found will (read this in your best Buzzfeed voice) change how you view the world.

Joan doesn’t wear red! Her makeup artist uses pinks or corals, and attributes the widely-held misconception that red lips are featured to Cristina’s naturally vibrant lips. If you still want to copy her, the most used colours are MAC Fan Fare, €18.50 and Laura Mercier Sheer Lipstick in Baby Lips, €24.

Margot Robbie’s Everything, But We’re Settling For Red Lipstick

I bet talk show hosts will pull this post when Margot and I are being interviewed about our wedding. Hi, Conan!

While she wears nude lips most often, it was the red she wore to the 2015 Oscars that got everyone excited. Her makeup artist quickly announced that it was Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven, worn over the matching Hourglass Panoramic Long Wear Lip Pencil. The shade is also available in a bullet, Femme Rouge Velvet Créme Lipstick.

The only actor’s make up I have ever tried to immitate is Eva Green’s smoky eyes, as she has similiar hooded lids like I do. She pulls the wing deep and thus sets her eyes in a moody dark tone. Needless to say, I have not even mastered it to look like Dame Edna, let alone Eva Green.

Love this kind of post, as I trust your eyes to really have a look at the shades. We’ve got a “royality expert” on our telly who always states that the Queen wears the same lipstick invented for her for her coronation. But each time she states that, the Queen wears a different shade depending on her outfit. At least that’s what I have noticed.

Looking forward to your next post like this.

Haha love this post! Out of everything you mentioned I only have Nars Dragon Girl and I love it. The Nars matte pencils are awesome an so long wearing. Oh did you see that UD are coming out with new matte lipsticks and there is a shade called Bad Blood, of course it’s a red probably named by Taylor Swift’s song 🙂

Ooh I love the idea of this series and good choices too. I think Christina Hendricks is just nnngggggghhhh so maybe we can double-wedding with you and Go? Does she mind if I call her that it is that a pet name only you use? 😉

Hahaha single-white-female her style! I love that! What a great post. I’ve always wondered what shade of red she wore too. It’s such a pretty classic red.

    Love this post!

I literally spent months Googling Taylor Swift, red lipstick and variations there of when I was trying to decide on a lipstick to wear on my wedding day. I ended up using the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Personne ne rouge, but my wishlist got longer in the process.
