Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil Raspberry Review

Oh, Sue. Your instagram feed is my shopping list. Her snaps of the then-unreleased Clarins Instant Light Lip Oil in Raspberry instilled a sense of want deep in the part of my brain that processes fancy stuff.

I’ve got my own now, pause for celebration, and have been trialling it over the last few weeks.

On inspection, it’s not really an oil. It’s a lip gloss that contains oils. To touch, it’s very like my favourite Bourjois glosses.

The texture is less sticky than most, but it’s still sticky.I can’t imagine how a gloss wouldn’t be, so I don’t know why brands make ‘non-stick’ claims. Hey ho. If you like the look of glosses but can’t stand the texture, this could be the gloss lite option that will convert you.

In terms of instant comfort, it is pretty solid. While it’s on, it feels smooth, nourishing and cushion soft. My lips were chapped in the above picture, and this did a great job of glossing over dry patches.

Its shade is a cool, berry pink. When applied, it’s barely a tint. You’re getting a glossy finish, not a pop of colour.

My favourite part is the taste. Remember Capol? I do, because I sniff my nephew’s bottle whenever he gets to have some. For those who haven’t had the Capol experience, it’s sugary, fruity and makes life worth living. 10/10 for Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil on the flavour front. I apply this just to lick it off.

Longevity isn’t its strength. Eat, kiss or drink and it’s gone. It doesn’t stain or leave lips feeling any different. Once it’s off, it’s off.

It’s not the game-changer I thought it would be, but that’s alright. I’m getting on really well with it as an everyday, works-over-everything gloss.

I am obsessed with lip oils now, the YSL one lives beside my bed and I use it at night as a treatment even though its tinted and it makes me feel like I’m wearing makeup to bed.

Hrrng, the YSL one. I have been reapplying it religiously. I apply it while I’m applying it. It’s LOVE.

I’m intrigued by these. I really want to try them out just because they are so unusual.

I don’t think this feels massively different to standard glosses, it’s not a huge departure!

I’m quite partial to a barely there lip look so like the look of this on you. I’m really liking the YSL one at the moment which is definitely more pigmented.

I’m 50/50. When I’ve no colour on my face, I look washed out. I like this best when I’ve a good whack of blusher on and some eyeshadow. The YSL wins, though!

I love the look of this, Clarins really know how to do packaging! I would probably buy it if I hadn’t bought a YSL one, they are the dogs doohdahs x
