Colbert MD Illumino Face Oil is firmly fixed in the ‘spensive skin care camp. It’s around the €125 mark, though mine came to me via the press team at Space NK, Grafton Street. I know, I’m lucky.
So. with a price tag like that, you’d expect greatness. Folks, you get it.
There’s a lot of science – this is a brand founded by doctors, not dressmakers – but I’ll skip the bumf and get on to my own experience.
Colbert MD Illumino Face Oil feels thinner than most facial oils, so I found myself wearing it under foundation. It creates a gorgeous, natural glow (a few of you commented on this in recent selfies, thanks!) without melting away makeup or exacerbating oily areas.
Moisture and hydration come without clogged pores, an uncomfortable residue or skin that feels overloaded. I’d say it’s a dream to use, but I hardly notice it’s there. It just soaks in, quietly working its magic.
I’ve got fine lines around my eyes that I think are getting far too cosy far too early. I spend extra time massaging this over that area and the improvement is incredible. It’s like my spring-long Mad Men all night, every night marathon never happened. Insomnia? Not me, mister.
I’m not seeing much of a boost in my skin texture, which is a shame because that’s one of the main product promises. Resurfacing might take longer than the initial nourishing benefits, so the jury’s out on this one. Could do better.
For an instant boost in not looking like the living dead, this is wonderful. I think I’d have to do some serious mental gymnastics to justify shelling out for a fresh bottle, but it’s not out of the question.

I’d love to move to London! It’s in the pipeline, but not for another few years. Jealous!
