I hesitate to call any product my favourite of all, but Dior Lip Glow Colour Reviver Balm is definitely in the running. The sliver of product left in the tube shows that I’ve used it more than any other lip product I own, and I haven’t stopped mentioning it on the blog since I did my Dior Lip Glow Colour Reviver Balm last year. So, as it ain’t cheap and is on the way out, I set out on the Dior Lip Glow dupe hunt.
While on the hunt, I spotted Catrice Ultimate Lip Glow Lip Colour Intensifier, €5.49. If the similar names were anything to go buy, I was onto a winner.
Then, there’s the brand claims. Dior: The must-have from Dior Backstage to enhance the lips and bring out their natural colour. Catrice: Smoothes your lips and makes them shine, it also intensifies your own personal lip color – a transparent, fresh and natural look in a truly unique color. Oh, snap! Sisters from other misters, on paper.
So, how do they hold up in practice? The shine is spot on, and the shade is just a hair away from perfect. Casting a beady eye over the Catrice option, I notice that it’s a slightly more saturated coral – only just.
Longevity is another match. As both are balms, neither of ’em are ride-or-die clingers. Still, they both fade down to a very soft stain. It’s an attribute I love about the Dior version, and I’m pleased that the contender for the crown has it too.
The parts that don’t match up aren’t deal breakers, but I thought I should note ’em. One – the massive difference in prices does kinda show up in the fancy extras. Dior Lip Glow feels creamier, and it tastes a little bit nicer. The packaging is a helluva lot more luxe, but I suppose which one you like best depends on your style.
The take-away? You lose a bit of the luxury, but the price difference is huge. In performance and appearance, they’re practically twins. Delighted!

I just couldn’t justify spending so much on a balmy color, so I am glad to hear there are dupes out there.

Great post – I’ve had my eye on the Dior product & moved it in & out of my online basket a few times since you mentioned it to me. Given the price difference, I definitely fancy trying the Catrice product first! xx

As much as I like Dior Lip Glow, I don’t think I’d repurchase it. I’m using it so sparingly because of that.

Wheee I’m glad you found something that’s close enough! I never wanted to get Lip Glow because I thought it’d be hokum, but on some days that’s really all I want to wear on my lips! I’m a little sad that the coral version is not being re-released here in Belgium. I really should have picked that up!

Sounds brilliant, great find! I haven’t gone near a Catrice stand in bloody ages.

I personally LOVE dupes because I honestly can’t justify paying an arm and a leg for a beauty product. Shame we don’t have Catrice here in Canada but the good new is, it’s available in Malaysia. So guess who will be making a huge haul next year? Oh yes ma’am…this lady here!
