I often wonder if the friends, family and partners of other beauty bloggers are as harassed as mine when it comes to second opinions. It’s tough to know if what you think is a likeable, sweet scent will come across as that to others, so I always try to get some input from different noses.
“Babe. BABE! Does my hair smell nice? What kind of nice? Like, more girly or more feminine? Can you make out the floral notes? A floral note! The part of the scent that’s floral! JEEZ. Alright, it doesn’t matter. I bet you could pick out Gillian Anderson’s top notes. Yeah, I saw your search history. The laptop was open! No. It’s fine. I’m fine.”
After giving Mark Hill MiracOILicious 2 Minute Intensive Treatment, €10.99, a whirl, I was getting more than a few compliments a day – no prompting required. Most asked what perfume I was wearing before we realised it was my hair that was swooshing a musky floral scent around the room.
Notions of smelling like a classy lady aside, this is a treatment mask, so it’s got to be judged on things other than fragrance. It’s thicker in consistency than what I’m used to and felt like a bit of a chore to distribute through my hair. This spilled over into rinsing, when it took me a solid five minutes to feel like I’d gotten rid of it entirely.
The aforementioned scent, noticeable shine and root-to-tip softness make up for the lengthy application time. It’s a mega thorough conditioner, even on my thick, dry hair.
The effects last for more than one wash, meaning frequent use isn’t necessary. I’m on a weekly routine, and that one session sees me through days of blow dries and hasty combing.
I’ll be stocking up to get through the winter months.
