I properly indulged over St. Patrick’s Day. I ate most of what Eddie Rocket’s had to offer, and my skin was all ‘Oh, would you like live volcano on your chin to go with that?’ and I was all ‘Feck.’
Ordinary blemishes can be dealt with pretty quickly, but you need to adopt a craftier approach to deal with this kind, the ones that take up half your face/post code.
There are two ways:
Method one works best if you’re not using a targeted spot treatment that’s drying. This amount of product won’t sit well over skin that’s rough, flaking or peeling. In terms of how it’ll look, it’s a good fit or being photographed or situations when you need to be more polished. Just keep a six-inch distance between your face and the eyes of other people.
So, to start, apply moisturiser all over your face like you usually do. After that’s done, apply your foundation. There’s no point in starting with concealer. You won’t know how much you need until your base is applied, and buffing on foundation over concealer will just displace the product that was in place.
Once your base applied, put on high-coverage, matte finish concealer. Dab rather than rub, you’ll get the most coverage this way.
Set that with a powder. Any powder will do, but oil controlling ones are best.
In dire straights, you can repeat this step again. In my current fix, I’m doing it twice and my spot is totally masked.

Method two is much more laid back. It’ll knock the edge off redness and looks grand in very close proximity. It’s best for skin that’s gone a bit flaky after so-wrong-but-so-right spot picking. The goal is to lessen the redness and stop things from looking cakey.
Apply your base as normal and then conceal with something that won’t cling or set too matte. Bourjois Healthy Mix, €9.99 is a great one for making your skin’s texture look good while reducing redness.
The second and final step (see, easy!) is to keep the area topped up with blotting paper. It will oil from seeping through concealer, so you don’t have to apply more product.

Oh, I know the ones you are talking about.
My preferred way of concealing them is hiding my head in the sheets all day.

Ha! That’s the ideal fix 🙂

I’m trying to find good products for concealing spots. I don’t know about you but they always find their “way” between my eyes, forehead or on cheeks! They are a nightmare to cover. Thank you for sharing !

Cheeks is new to me! That must be awful, it’d impede your blusher. My condolences!

Great tips! I like using the Nars radiant concealer for spot concealing and it works great, I just have to make sure to moisturize the area so I don’t have dry patches.

I always get one bitch of a spot on my chin that seems to have the power to break through any type of attempted camouflage – Catrice camouflage cream is thick enough to stay there with a bit of powder on top until I inevitably rub my face! Great tips.
