It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+ FAIR Review/Photos

It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+, about €34. No press samples featured.

Here’s a good beauty tip – surround yourself with friends who have skin types that differ from yours. That’s how I came by this tube of It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream.

Laura of Laura’s Views tried it, but found it didn’t work on her oily-leaning skin. Enter me, dry skinned and greedy. She let me have it, and I adore the stuff.

This is an easy review to write, because It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream is a pretty straightforward product.

The ‘Your Skin But Better’ effect lies in a moisture boost, dewy radiance and a little bit of coverage. For me, that means redness is reduced and my dry skin looks brighter, more fresh. I’m its target market, and it’s hitting the spot.

But suiting my little raisin face doesn’t mean it’s without shortcomings. The same moisture that means this feels really comfortable and sits pretty also shortens wear-time. I find it fades from the oilier areas of my skin, and a bit of shine comes through. Hey ho; it’s not pitched as a long-wear product.

My one other gripe is shimmer. There are tiny flecks of it in this formula. On application, they’re barely noticeable. It’s only when you step back that you notice the glow. It’s nice. But as time goes on, they become more obvious. I think it’s when the liquid part of the product starts to fade, or is rubbed off, that the ratio of carrier to sparkles switches, and they stick out on bare skin. The lesson – It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream is here for a good time, not a long time.

If you’re OK with that, benefits abound. It’s a lovely texture that’s really easy to work with. I think there’s a small dose of silicone, so it’s super smooth but not thick or claggy. I get a seamless finish in seconds. It also looks smooth, which is a big help over larger pores.

It’s not impossible to build coverage, but even the heaviest application makes for a light finish. It’s definitely more of an enhancing base than it is a concealing or masking one. I think this would be a match made in heaven for people with fairly clear but kinda dull complexions. On me, with my dose of redness, it just takes a few dabs of concealer to reach my preferred coverage levels.

More pleasure points go to the little extras – the packaging is really clean and easy to travel with. A pump and a squeezy tube, what more could a girl ask for? The scent is very different, for  a foundation. It’s like sweet lemon, or citrus tart. I love it, and I’m not usually one for scented bases.

SPF is another bonus. It’s broad spectrum 50, which is a nice jump from most protection-infused bases. I’ll take any extra sun protection I can because I’m a fiend for acids. However, as will all SPF foundations, you’ve got to be careful. For SPF to be effective, it has to completely coat the skin and in a fairly thick layer. Personally, I don’t think I squirt enough of this onto my face for it to create a proper barrier, so I add another pure SPF step if I’m going to be out in the sun for any stretch of time. On dull Irish days or quick trips? I think I’ll live with my light coating.

So, the long and short of it – It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream is lovely. You’ll get the best results if your skin is more dry than normal or oily, and if you’re not wearing it while you’re working up a sweat. For me, that makes a perfect everyday base. Thumbs UP.

If you’re in Ireland and want to buy it, I think your best bet is ordering from QVC! Otherwise, it’s stocked on Beautylish, and shipping is free over $50, but customs is added at checkout.
