There’s a financially irresponsible brat within me that wants to try every cushion foundation that’s ever been made. The format works well with exactly the kind of foundation I like best – lightweight, moisturising and radiant. I’ve been working my way through tried-and-tested Korean favourites, but Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion is the first fancy western version I’ve tried.
In terms of its format, Lancôme has a patent pending for ‘Polar Cushion Technology’. That is, this cushion has been made specifically to carry the lighter Teint Idole Ultra formulation. And yep, it feels very light, even when applied generously. I’ve not felt comfort like it since I discovered microwavable slippers.
While it looks very natural, coverage can actually be built right up to medium/full levels. I’ve packed on as much as my face could carry – see above – and it still looks fresh. It’s velvety with buckets of glow, which tricks the eye into seeing it as skin and not a layer of product. They’ve absolutely nailed it with the finish here – it makes skin look brighter, more evenly textured and healthy.
Longevity isn’t poor, but it’s not an oil-suppressing clinger. It gets shiny and will gently fade over time. Powder will be your friend, but if you’re very oily, there are better alternatives. If you’re dry to normal, and maybe a touch oily, there shouldn’t be an issue.
So, if you’re happy to invest in a foundation – and this little 14g compact is definitely an investment – I say give it a look. It’s lovely – a real treat for skin that craves moisture and radiance.
