L’Oreal Elnett Heat Protect Spray Straight, €8.99. Press samples featured. Disclosure policy here.
I hadn’t put a straightener to my hair in years, so I’ve no idea why I took the notion to do it last week. I didn’t have much to hand and my technique is rusty, but it went swimmingly! To give credit where its due, I’m reviewing L’Oreal Elnett Heat Protect Spray.
It’s intended for use with a hair dryer, so I sprayed it all over damp hair and brushed out any (many) tangles to distribute product from root to tip. I usually don’t get results from blow drying alone, but this left my hair much more manageable. The only issues were some wavy sections and mild fluffiness. That’s worlds away from the usual curly mop situation.
It took less than 15 minutes to polish everything off with my straighter, and I can only attribute that speed to the Elnett spray – you can bet your bottom dollar that I haven’t suddenly gotten mad styling skills.
As well as the heat protecting and smoothing basics, it promises to keep hair straighter for longer. WELL. I was cynical, because I used to be able to straighten my hair and watch the curls start forming again. I wouldn’t get more than a day out of straight hair. With this, I was alright to leave the house on day three, and handled day four with a sleek ponytail.
What I like best is how clean it feels. It tames frizz and bulk, but it doesn’t weigh my hair down to the point of looking lank. There’s still plenty of volume to throw around, and throw it around I do. The swooshing is still a novelty.
It’s the best I’ve tried, and not at all at a bad price.

Love the look. I also love that you wear your hair curly most of the time! I tend to mix it up depending on how lazy I am because straightening is tedious! Although 15 minutes sounds pretty quick to me!

Honest to God, it’s more out of laziness than commitment to the style!

I haven’t straighten my hair since high school, I used to do it all the time back then cause I didn’t know what to do with my curly hair. But now I can’t imagine myself without curly hair. It’s probably too much work to do mine but I’m curious how it will look. You look great with curly and straight hair 🙂

I must admit that I am absolutely horrid with heat protectant for my hair, I almost never use it. Eek! Love your hair this way but I’m a bigger fan of your curls, it’s just so you and you look gorgeous with curls.

Hang on now – THREE DAYS DOWN?! My hair is deceptively curly, when I wash it and let it dry on its own I get ringlets underneath a layer of frizz. I always have to use a straightener or the big hair to smooth it out with the matrix oil stuff but it’s always fuzzing and pouffing (technical terms) at the end of Day 2! Sounds like great stuff. I do love your curls, but it’s nice to be able to change it up every now and then too! x

You hair looks lovely straightened too! I think I may have similar hair to you as I need to straighten it every day to get rid of my natural curl. Unfortunately it’s now horribly damaged because of this. Think i’ll keep an eye out for this next time i’m in Superdrug and hopefully it will work wonders for me too!
