MAC Next to Nothing Foundation, €TBA. No press samples featured. Not sponsored.
I thought Giorgio Armani’s Power Fabric foundation would open the floodgates. I was sure we’d be going back to full coverage and matte textures this year, after nearly a decade of less-is-more and radiant bases.
But, while I think we’ve opened out hearts up to the possibility of something less than dewy again, no-makeup makeup still reigns supreme.
At the moment, I’m loving a super glossy take on natural makeup. Katie Jane Hughes, who I see has been playing with MAC Next to Nothing too, is my glossy-skin goal, see below.
So, MAC Next to Nothing will be part of MAC Summer 2017. It’s a balmy foundation, light in coverage but very radiant. It’ll impart glow through shimmer pigments, plus there’ll be a little boost in hydration – always great for a naturally glowing base.
MAC likens it to an Instagram filter, but I feel like that’s the tag every brand is giving their foundations right now. In real terms, I think this is more comparable to a CC cream. Lots of focus on improving texture and brightness, just a touch of colour correction.
I’ve been tipped off by Dani, a beaut makeup artist with MAC, that you can wear it OVER foundation if you want the glow plus extra coverage.
There are nine shades – very limited, especially for MAC – ranging from Light to Dark Deep. I haven’t eyeballed the colours in person, but I’m pretty sure very light and very dark women are going to have to pass on these.
If MAC Next to Nothing Foundation sounds like your kind of base, expect to see it in stores from April. There’s no Irish pricing just yet, but expect it to set you back as much as the main line foundations do now – €30 plus. Interested?
