You know those deep-sea creatures that see colours that humans can’t even fathom? One of ’em swam into MAC’s production centre and came up with MAC Relentlessly Red Retro Matte, €18.50.
It’s a weird shade – one that sits between pink and coral with an extra lashing of cool tones. I’ve not seen one like it, and I’ve been looking.
The on-the-fence shade looks most pink in direct sunlight, as snapped above, but coral tones come out in shade.
Its retro matte formula, you’ll know it if you’ve given Ruby Woo a whirl, requires more commitment than bog-standard creams. Good preparation with lip balms and careful follow-up application will see you through, but expect your lips to feel drier during the day.
A quirky colour in a lesser-seen finish, MAC Relentlessly Red Retro Matte is the stand-out number in my collection. Definitely one to check out for spring!

I really like this shade on you!

That colour is gorgeous on you.
No matter how much I prep my lips beforehand I just can’t get MAC’s matte formulas to work on me.
