MAC Runway Hit Lipstick €18.50. No press samples featured.
MAC just launched quite a big lipstick collection, and most shades are proper show stoppers. I usually just go to the counter and swatch a few, but this time, I left with arms that look like stacked Wine Gums. The inside of my jumper will probably never recover fully. However, in a moment of unprecedented self control, I managed to walk away from the counter with just one; MAC Runway Hit lipstick.
Runway Hit is a muted, light coral-peach. It pulls much brighter on my skin, but that’s more to do with me being as white as mayonnaise. For darker skin, around the NC25 and over, this could slot into the nude lip box.
In The Matte Lip Collection, there are two textures – Retro Matte or Matte. The former is the turbo version, as matte as matte can be. Standard Matte lipsticks are usually more forgiving, but very close in terms of performance. Generally, both options provide full colour and have good lasting power.
Runway Hit is a Retro Matte, but I think the formula has been tweaked since I bought Ruby Woo, the best-loved and most-matte Retro Matte in the MAC range. Sure, Runway Hit is a bit drier, but it glides on easily and doesn’t flake. It’s much easier to achieve good lips with this edition, and I think the finish is less flat.
I’m totally on board; it’s a beautiful shade, the quality is good and it’s the kind of wearable matte I love. I’ll be going back for a look at the more autumnal shades (heya, Whirl), and the collection is permanent, so there’s no risk of missing out by not rushing.

So this actually looks similar to Sexy Sienna, which formula do you prefer?

Hmm. I reach for Sexy Sienna more, the formula is lush. It’s more expensive, but I think it’s worth it. If you’re going for one, I’d say Sexy Sienna.
