I have Maybelline The Nudes Palette, and now my heart is full. I haven’t mauled a bunch of shadows like it since the OG, Urban Decay’s game changing Naked Palette. It’s a beaut.
I’ll keep the chat on quality short, because there’s not much to say when you can’t complain. The matte shadows get a special mention, because the usually tricky texture is seen at its best here. They’re the cheese to the typical chalky shadow offerings from budget brands. Smooth, almost creamy and bold.
Pigmentation varies a bit, mostly between the very dark shades and the highlight shades. Still, none of ’em are wishy washy and none are so strong that they don’t blend. Generally, they sit in the happy middle.
Of the dozen shadows, three work as highlight shades on me, three as transition shades (ones that are great for blending out darker colours) and the final six are deep, smoky shades for lining or winging in the outer corner.
I’m glad that there’s been no attempt at getting the cool kids on board with colour pop shades or turbo chunky glitters. It’s a solid selection of neutrals that you’ll actually use.
So, I’m in love and telling myself that I’ll never need another shadow again. I can see this honeymoon period lasting dozens of seconds into the launch of the Blushed Nudes Palette.

This sounds amazing! I don’t need another palette, but have to pick one up after reading this! xx

I was disappointed by this palette – I found the shades tricky to blend and they were a bit chalky.

Wow, I don’t know what to say! My experience with the palette couldn’t be more different!

I skipped on this one cause of the mixed reviews but I did get the Blushed Nudes palette since it’s very similar to the Naked 3 palette which I don’t have. The pigmentation on that one is pretty consistent with a few exceptions so I’ve heard that it’s better than the Nudes Palette. If you have access to it I deff recommend it 🙂

The comments here are the first I’m hearing of mixed reviews, I’m so surprised! I better go have a read and see what issues people had. Gonna check out the Blushed Nudes too, thanks 🙂

I have been giving this a miss because of the mixed reviews as well but the next time they go on sale, I’ll be sure to pick them up! I too am in love with the shades in this palette so fingers crossed it’ll be great for me.

No palettes for me, even though the shades look great. I just never use them, don’t know why…
Lorraine Haigney
I’m the opposite, forever neglecting my single shadows. I’ve really got to find better storage so I’ll get to them easily and be more inclined to use ’em.

I love a good neutrals palette 🙂 This does seem like a good drugstore option to have in your collection. I have read mixed reviews on it but if you loved it, then that’s the most important thing 🙂 x

It’s lovely to look at, I’ve never tried any dry shadows from Maybelline, just the colour tattoos. I don’t need it, but no doubt there will come a day when I am loitering with itchy fingers and money burning a hole in my pocket….
Becca
This is fab! I saw it on your Instagram and it’s taken me DAYS to get here (tut, life getting in the way as usual!). Such a bargain palette. But I must add, I am the girl who likes the Turbo Chunky Glitter option. Just sayin’

I feel like they’ve taken hours out of the day and are keeping it on the down low.
Oh, totally, I love a chunky glitter too – but I like that this is a very neutral palette! Time and a place kinda thing.

Ah here, now I have to go and buy……sounds like it would be perfect for hols too when I don’t want to bring Naked ones….
Lorraine Haigney
Exactly, it’s brilliant for situations like that – and it’s much smaller too, less room taken up in your bag!
