Rimmel Kate Moss Nude Lip Collection Swatches + Review

Lorraine_Haigney 28th July 2015

Rimmel Kate Moss Nude Lip Collection Lipsticks, €6.99. Press samples featured.

My lips were very chapped when these arrived, because of course they were. To be honest, I wasn’t champing at the bit to start testing out the new shades. I’d swatched them on the back of my hand in the chemist and wasn’t really inspired. However, on the lips, these are much more pleasing.

They don’t deviate from the other Kate Moss ones I’ve tried. They’re fairly basic formulations; solid colour pay off, decent lasting time and comfortable to wear. My only gripe is the scent. There’s a proper bang of 90s Poundshop cosmetics about these. I’m not totally turned off, but I do have my fingers crossed that Rimmel will chuck in a few drops of vanilla or something (or anything!) to the blend soon. Still, for the price, I’m happy with these.

Of the five shades, I have two – 43 and 45. They’re swatched above in that order, from top to bottom.

In the tube, 43 looks like nicotine-tinted beige. It’s not my thing. Applied, it’s just peachy – light, warm and flattering. You really can’t write it off based on first impressions. Of the two, it’s my favourite. If you’re more into pink nudes, 45 is your man. It’s muted with a brownish tinge. Very wearable, very understated.

I think mine are probably the best of the bunch for pale skin, but there are three other shades that should suit other complexions. You can have a look at those over on Really Ree’s Rimmel Nude Collection by Kate Moss post.

Next task – get my hands on the polishes in the range.

I like the second one as well! I like the collection overall but in general I’m not too fond of the Kate Moss lipstick formula. I find them drying and the scent isn’t great either.

45 is definitely the one I’ve worn out of the 3 I picked up, won’t be going after any more but haven’t seen the polishes yet at all!

Both shades look really nice on you. Not sure when we’ll get this collection in the US but I’m planning on getting the shades that will suit my medium skin tone.

I’ll have to swatch these before buying. Nudes are extremely tricky with my skin tone and most wash me out so I end up looking like a corpse.

No 45 looks very wearable plus I like the sound of a whiff of 90s Poundshop.. all my early make-up came from there 🙂
