I’ve been down in the deepest corners of every chemist, clinic and department store in Ireland, and I’ve finally found the best everyday sun cream product – SkinCeuticals Mineral Radiance UV Defense SPF 50.
It’s a light fluid that’s subtly tinted, providing a tiny bit of coverage and glow. It comes in one shad, but the fact that it’s so sheer allows for some wiggle room. On fair skin like mine, a bit of bronzing powder should be enough to blend out and suspicious edges.
The coverage is enough for me on an everyday basis. Yep, you can see a little bit of redness and pigmentation, but I think that’s a fair trade. In return for letting your freckles peep through, you get a base that can be smeared on in seconds and looks super fresh. I top up with some concealer where it’s needed, then I’m out the door, rocking the sexiest accessory a gal can have – properly protected skin. Ahem.
What sets it apart from other sun creams is its consistency. It is incredibly light, an almost watery fluid, just what you need with SPF. Even a really generous application doesn’t look or feel heavy. It layers well too, should you need to top up during the day, or if you want to apply a foundation on top.
The only pitfall? Price.
Purchased from the SkinCeuticals site, it works out at about €40, depending on conversion rates. A major investment, but this is salon skin care. It’s effective, reliable and a pleasure to use – the best of the best. I bought my first bottle six months ago and am ordering its replacement this week. Hooked!
