I’ve not had much luck with topping up my sun screen while wearing makeup. There’s only so much Buckaroo layering you can do with sun screen and foundation, before you end up looking like you’ve taken a coffee slice to the face.
Last year, when Garnier Ambre Solaire Dry Mist SPF 50 launched, I held it in front of my made-up face and sprayed, feeling a bit like I was the first human to milk a cow.
It’s an ultra lightweight mist that dries immediately, leaving no shine or residue. I get my whole body done in seconds, and can’t even tell that it’s on once I’m done spraying. So, while it’s not pitched as post-cosmetic sun protection, you can see why I gave it a whirl.
Unlike the lotions and creams that I’d faffed around with before, this was totally incognito on my skin. I’m not shy with it either. There’s definitely enough on for it to be effective and still no grease, no slip, no white glow.
Once your careful to avoid your eyes so that they don’t get irritated, there’s no catch. And anyway sure, there’s not a sunblock in the world that you can apply right up to your eyeballs. I block ’em while I’ve spraying and then wear my sunglasses for protection.
This year, it’s been reformulated to suit the most fussy skin. The target market is those with fair, sun intolerant and sensitive skin, and the broad spectrum protection is the highest you can get – SPF 50 blocks 98% of damaging sun rays, assuming you’re applying it properly.
It’s my favourite sun screen, for its magic over-makeup properties and general efficacy. If you’re yet to pick up your sun protection for the year, put this at the top of your shopping list.

What witchcraft is this?!? You’re a genius!!

Oh I wonder if we have this in the US cause it sounds great. For the daytime I try to use a foundation that already has spf in it so I can skip the extra sunscreen step :))
Maria
I don’t think they have it in the US. It contains Meroxyl, which is arguably the best sunscreen, but it’s banned in the States.

That one sounds great. I am very good at applying mbsunscreen in the first place, but not so good in re-applying. Maybe this could help.

This sounds brilliant! I have yet to try spray on sunscreen but will definitely need to look for this to give it a try.

Now, even. Oops.

Ooh I was intrigued by this, but I tried their dry oil spray last year and I got sooo burnt, so i wanted to try this sensitive one to see if it’d be better – sounds like it is! xx

I love the sound of this! I never top up SPF during the day in case I mess up the make-up (*looks guilty) This could be the answer to my SPF/make-up woes x

I hate the texture of all sunscreens. Absolutely hate wearing them. I wish we could have an SPF yearly vaccine or something. Haha. But this product sounds interesting. If it came in a smaller can, I would love to test it.

Ha, not a bad idea, that vaccine! I think this does come in a smaller bottle too, fingers crossed 🙂
