YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Pink in Confidence, 33. No press samples featured.
Since getting YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Pink in Confidence, every day is a struggle. It’s a battle of being sensible versus going out and buying the rest of the range. We’ll get into the nitty gritty review details, but the long story made short is that I’m hooked. It’s one of my favourite lipstick formulas.
This is the sort of splurge I don’t mind. You’re not just paying for packaging and a name, and you won’t get a budget dupe for a blend this fancy. There’s a big dose of hydration from hyaluronic acid, which is skin care man of the minute. It’s a miracle worker. More moisture comes from a mix of waxes and antioxidants. It’s super, super softening.
That being said, the texture is surprisingly lightweight. I expected it to feel very rich and almost gloopy, but it’s not at all. It’s comfortably creamy but thin.
Colour can be built up, but it’s never opaque. Mostly, it imparts buckets of shine and a light wash of colour. When I want a more intense finish, I use MAC In Anticipation Pro Longwear Lip liner as a base. It matches and amplifies the shade, plus it helps with longevity. I’ve got a swatch of that in my June favourites, and NYX Lip Liner in Nude Pink too. Both are very similar!
To further its levels of fancery pantsery, its taste and scent is abso-bloody-lutley delicious. Really tropical, like you’re genuinely sucking on a Solero.
Nude in Private is next on my to-get list, sandwiched in between money and a ticket to an alternate universe where lovely makeup is cheap.
